About

The name means simple, straightforward.

Sunao (素直) is a Japanese word. It describes something honest, unforced, and without pretence.

That's the idea behind the studio. Too much of the web is dressed up — heavy animations, clever copy, design that works hard to impress rather than to communicate. Sunao is the opposite of that.

We build sites that are clear from the first second. Visitors understand what you do, what you offer, and what to do next — without having to work for it.

The work is small and deliberate. We take on a limited number of projects at a time so that every site gets the attention it deserves.

How we work

Start with the question

Before a single pixel is placed, we ask what the site needs to do. Who is it for? What do they need to know? What should they do next? The design follows the answer.

Remove, don't add

Good design is often editing. We push back on features and sections that don't earn their place. A focused page outperforms a comprehensive one.

Ship and improve

We get live fast, then iterate based on real usage. A launched site in the world is worth more than a perfect one on a Figma board.
